Meet Your Instructor Mardesia B. Chauvin, CPhT-Adv, CPTEd, AAS

I did not come to pharmacy on a traditional path. I stepped into my first retail pharmacy role in my 40s, while working another full-time job and raising three children. It was a lot. And it was absolutely worth it.

From the moment I entered this field in December 2014, pharmacy felt like home. There is something about the pace, the purpose, and the people that got into my bones and never left. I still work in retail pharmacy today, part-time, because this work matters to me beyond a paycheck or a title.

In 2020, I brought that love into the classroom. Teaching Pharmacy Technician students became one of the greatest joys of my professional life. I live for the moment a concept clicks for a student. That look of pride and accomplishment, whether it comes from mastering a sig code or finally understanding a drug interaction, is what keeps me showing up with everything I have. If the explanation sounds simple or the analogy seems a little silly, that is fine by me. Whatever helps my students learn, we are doing it.

My time as a Business Educator, which began in 2024, has only made me a better pharmacy teacher. It pushed me to think beyond the exam and consider the whole professional you are becoming, not just the technician. That experience, paired with my years on the pharmacy floor, is what shaped PlanRx Insights into what it is today.
