Welcome to PlanRx Insights
A Planner-Obsessed Guide for Healthcare Students Who Want More Than Just Survival
You’re in the right place if…
You’re in scrubs by sunrise, in class by noon, and wondering how it’s only Tuesday. You’ve got deadlines, discussion boards, externships, and a laundry pile doing its best impression of Mount Everest. You’re driven—but also just plain tired.
You’re not alone. That’s why PlanRx Insights exists.
This space is for students in Allied Health programs—Medical Assisting, Dental Assisting, Pharmacy Tech, Medical Office Admin—who are chasing big goals while balancing real life. You want structure, but not pressure. You want to build a career without burning out before your certification exam.
You’re not looking for fluff. You want tools that work, tips that make sense, and a voice that gets what you’re going through.
Hi. I’m that voice.
How It All Started (And Yes, Coffee Was Involved)
I’m Mardesia. My journey into healthcare didn’t start with a stethoscope—it started in the kitchen of a nursing home.
I was a teenager, rolling silverware and serving trays to residents, and that job taught me more about dignity, patience, and people than I realized at the time. Healthcare stayed in my peripheral vision, but I took a different path.
Fast-forward a few years (okay, decades), and I found myself deep in the world of couponing. I ran a blog, hauled a binder full of coupons to the store like it was a briefcase, and drank more coffee than I’d publicly admit. My superpower? Feeding a family and paying bills on a shoestring budget—and writing about it with a little flair.
That’s how I met one of the most influential people in my life: a store manager with a bright smile and a sharp sense of humor. We’d chat every week, and one day she looked at me and said,
“I think you’d make a great pharmacy technician.”
That one sentence changed everything.
I got certified, fell in love with the field, and eventually stepped into teaching—first Pharmacy Tech, now Professional Development and Business courses for Allied Health students. And through it all, planning and reflection kept me sane.
Why PlanRx Insights?
I created this space because I know what it’s like to restart your career in your 40s. I know what it’s like to wonder if you can balance classes, kids, and a part-time job. And I know how powerful it is when you finally find the right rhythm—and a system that supports you.
PlanRx Insights is where that system lives. It’s a hub for students who want to thrive, not just survive. For students who love a good checklist, a fresh pen, and maybe—just maybe—a printable that actually makes sense.
What You’ll Find Here (and what you won’t)
You won’t find pressure to be perfect, 5 a.m. productivity lectures, or 30-tab planners that make you feel behind before breakfast.
Instead, you’ll find:
- Realistic planner tools designed for actual healthcare schedules (with room for shift work, diaper changes, and last-minute cramming)
- Study strategies that support how your brain works—even on caffeine and 4 hours of sleep
- Professional prep like resume tips, mock interview scripts, and soft skill strategies your instructors and future employers will notice
- Mental wellness reflections that remind you your mental health matters as much as your GPA
Every resource is designed with purposeful planning, personal growth, career development, and mental health in mind. If it’s here on the site, it’s here because it’s a resource I wish I had when I started my journey.
